I am not a religious person, but this song deeply resonates with me. There are other songs with religious contexts that I count as some of my favorites too, and it’s because the people who write them have a stronger connection to them, much stronger than normal. That’s my goal in writing and reading poetry, to make the listener feel that passion even if they wouldn’t write the same thing.
